The framers rolled the floor joists for the second floor and erected the second floor walls and stair column walls this week. BMC Lumber pre-cut and bundled many of the walls. This is accelerating the framing. It was fun to walk on the second floor and see the views.
The week started with a crane placing a 50' steel beam in the center of the first floor, along with a glue lam header in the garage ceiling. They are designed to support the floor joists on the second floor.
The framing crew came on site this week and by Friday they had the first floor walls up. It's great to see the outline of the garage doors on the front (left photo) and sliding glass doors on the rear (right photo)of the first floor. Ground iron also passed inspection this week.
The foundation was completed over the past week. The walls were dampproofed and a french drain installed on the north side to relieve hydraulic pressure against the foundation walls. Now that the foundation is backfilled, it gives us a feel for the position of the home on the lot. Sleeves for the gas and electric service were also installed, along with the water line. Framing and ground iron (plumbing under the slab) commences this week.
